Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) (SDC, Infection Prevention, MDS)
The Forest at Duke's award-winning Health Center, which opened in February 2023, is home to Memory Care, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing in a beautiful 90-bed facility. The Health Center is a part of a vibrant continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in the heart of Durham, North Carolina.
Small House Model of Care, which prioritizes resident choice, and patient-centered care, The Forest's model of care supports and facilitates reasonable staff-to-resident ratios for licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants.
What you'll be doing…
Staff Development Coordinator (Tasks)
- Assists with Recruitment and Retention of staff for success in the Small House Model of Care
- Provides new hire orientation, annual follow-up training, and education in-service programs as needed for all Team Members
- Plans, organizes, implements, and coordinates the Health Center nursing staff education programs
- Evaluate the educational needs of the Health Center to ensure ongoing continuing education and adherence to applicable required in-services
- Identifies, assesses, and implements in-service programs as needed regarding the satisfactory performance of clinical skills and knowledge
- Plans, implements, directs, and coordinates the orientation program for all new employees
- Monitors Relias training compliance, OSHA, and employee files, CPR certifications, and licenses
- Participates and is actively involved in Infection Prevention, surveillance, and QAPI
- Engage as part of the nursing management team, be involved in the nursing management call schedule
Infection Preventionist (Tasks)
- Carries out the development, direction, implementation, management, and operation of the Infection Prevention and Control program in the Health Center
- Conducts ongoing staff development, training, and Quality Assurance Performance Improvement monitoring to ensure adherence to organizational standards, CDC guidelines, and the County and State Health departments.
- Encompasses compliance with, CMS, OSHA, and NCDHSR outbreak investigation
- Provides overall direction of the infection prevention and control program
MDS Nurse (Tasks)
- Coordinates the completion of Medicare MDS assessments (4 Certified Beds) and oversees the remainder of facility completion.
- Provide direction and education to nurses regarding completing MDS assessments
What we are looking for in this critical role…
- Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing and currently licensed by the State of North Carolina.
- Previous experience as a Charge Nurse or Supervisor preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE) certified (can be certified after hire)
- Knowledgeable of nursing and medical assessment practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing long-term care.
- Able to assist in planning, supervising, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of nursing personnel.
- Ability to recognize and assess signs and symptoms of residents' conditions and to provide intervention or referral as appropriate.
