The Forest at Duke (TFAD) is a vibrant non-profit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) with over 400 residents enjoying life at The Forest.
We are looking for a motivated, qualified Clinic Nurse Manager to provide Nursing Supervision for the day-to-day operation of TFAD Wellness Clinic in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards governing the facility, and as directed by TFAD Health Services Director.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a Registered Nurse licensed to practice in North Carolina with at least 5 years of clinical experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in a physician clinic is preferred.
- Must have updated CPR Certification.
- Must possess interest in gerontological nursing, preferably with gerontological experience.
Responsibilities:
- Directs the overall clinical functions and operations of the Wellness Clinic.
- Assists the physician with primary patient care and clinic procedures including physical exams, suturing, and minor surgical and diagnostic procedures.
- Checks-in residents to be seen by the physician, documenting Vital Signs, weight, and chief complaints in the medical record system.
- Performs nursing and health assessments on residents during clinic hours when physician is not available on site and communicates these assessment findings to the physician on call for further instructions and treatments orders.
- Performs telephone triage of independent residents, documenting residents’ concerns, nursing assessments, interventions, and education in the medical record.
- Provides teaching and educational literature to independent residents based on health care and nursing care needs.
- Responds to Respond system alarms. Back-up assistance with Respond calls will be covered by the Health and Wellness Center nursing staff.
- Collects and/or prepares lab specimens for transport to lab
- Orders and restocks lab and clinic supplies..
- Coordinates pharmacy services.
- Retrieves lab reports daily and coordinates these results with the residents’ charts for review by the Medical Director.
Employee Health Responsibilities:
- Provides first aid and triage for on the job illnesses and injuries. Refers injured or ill employees to acute/emergency care as appropriate, including the processing of Worker’s Compensation Forms.
- Participates with Department Director and ill or injured employee in modifying his/her job to fit medical restrictions.
- Conducts employee Health and Wellness program, including annual TB testing or chest X-ray, Hepatitis B vaccines, flu shots, blood pressure screening, and other assessments as needed.
- Maintains employee health records for all non-nursing employees.
- Administers drug testing for new applicants.
