The Desktop Support Specialist provides end-user support for all The Forest at Duke computer workstations and printers including software installation, hardware upgrades and software support.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree In technology related field or high school diploma with direct technology related work experience.
- Knowledge of current computer hardware and operating systems
- Knowledge of current mobile device hardware and operating systems
- Must be able to troubleshoot and solve problems with The Forest computer systems and printers
Competences:
- Must be a self-starter and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both orally and in writing with the ability to interact comfortably with individuals within various levels of the organization and across diverse cultures.
- Must be able to exercise sound judgment and independent thought.
- Ability to maintain positive and professional relationships and interactions with residents, guests, vendors, contractors and team members.
- Ability to meet deadlines and follow-up timely with residents, peers, and team members.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of information.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Provides needed end-user support including answering questions about installed software and printing issues.
- Installs and/or upgrades Windows OS, Microsoft Office, Outlook/Exchange and other software as instructed by Supervisor.
- Provides computer/printer/TFAD wireless network support to residents.
- Installs and/or upgrades computer hardware (e.g. add RAM, replace power supplies) as needed for computer workstations.
- Adds users to specific computers and assigns Windows passwords for each user.
- Moves and/or relocates computers to temporary or permanent locations as needed.
- Installs network printers; replaces ink cartridges and toner as needed.
- Performs HIPAA and security audits.
- Provides one-on-one training to end users on company hardware and/or software.
- Responsible for other duties as requested by supervisor.
