About The Forest at Duke
For over 30 years, The Forest at Duke’s team has provided a caring, responsible community that fosters the independence of residents of retirement age by enhancing their capability to lead purposeful, active, healthy and secure lives.
As a Sous Chef and a Forest Team Member, you’ll help support this mission by supervising the kitchen staff as well as assisting in preparing, cooking, and serving premium food items for our residents.
What we’re looking for in our next Team Member…
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent with culinary education/schooling highly preferred
· Experienced cook or chef with 1 – 2 years of supervisor experience in a restaurant/kitchen setting
· Ability to walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
· Basic computer skills including e-mail and online ordering
· Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation and handling techniques
· Ability to read, understand, and follow provided recipes and directions in English
· Ability to read measurements and perform basic measurement calculations and conversions
· Current or previous supervisor experience with the ability to manage, direct, influence, and motivate direct reports
· Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with diverse individuals
· Ability to work a flexible schedule and ability to work with short notice in the event of staffing issues
· Maintains professional and sanitary manner and appearance
· Works independently and efficiently under stressful conditions with many interruptions
· General knowledge of safety and sanitation rules and practices. ServSafe Certification, or the ability to obtain and maintain once employed.
· Must be at least 18 years old
