The Driver/Security Floater


The Forest at Duke’s mission is to provide a caring, responsible community that fosters the independence of residents of retirement age by enhancing their capability to lead purposeful, active, healthy and secure lives. Moreover, we strive to be the preferred provider of services for older adults in the Durham community.
 

The Driver/Security Floater is under the supervision of the Activities Program Manager. The Driver/Security Floater works independently as a Driver, accepts and completes chauffeuring assignments as scheduled, and as a Security Floater provides necessary security measures for a safe environment to both live and work at The Forest at Duke (TFAD). This position reports to the Activities Manager or designee.

Key Position Qualifications Include:

  • Must have a valid North Carolina Driver’s License
  • CDL with passenger endorsement required
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Interacting with residents, visitors and team members in a friendly, but professional, manner
  • CPR Certification preferred or willingness to get certified

Key Performance Success Indicators Include:

  • Ability to write clear, concise and thorough reports, including daily activity and incident.
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to stand/sit/walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work exterior posts in inclement weather
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls from residents, vendors, team members and follow department procedures to properly handle the situation
  • Ability to communicate well in English with older population in a pleasant, understanding, tolerant, and professional manner
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under stressful conditions with many interruptions
  • Controlling access to and from building through mobile and walking patrols
  • Perform visible inspection of hygienic appearances of facility and report discrepancies to Security Manager
  • Enforcing all rules and regulations of The Forest by reporting infractions to the Security Manager
  • Acts as chauffeur to residents for regularly scheduled trips as well as unscheduled trips planned by the Department of Resident Life
  • Observe safe driving habits and pays particular attention to aiding passengers entering and exiting the vehicle
  • Organize up to 75 residents for special events to board appropriate buses
