The Staff Development Coordinator is primarily responsible for orienting of new Nursing and Health & Wellness team members to the Health & Wellness Center, maintaining skills validations for nursing team members, and providing ongoing training to all Nursing and Health & Wellness Center team members. Additionally, this position serves as the infection control nurse/infection preventionist, and Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) nurse for the Health & Wellness Center.
Qualifications for the Staff Development Coordinator position include:
- Must be an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse in good standing and currently licensed by the State of North Carolina.
- Must show ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Must have training through a state-approved infection control training site, such as SPICE; this credential can be attained within 6 months of hire.
- Previous experience as a Staff Development Coordinator is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience as a Charge Nurse or Nurse Supervisor preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical assessment practices and procedures and laws, regulations, and guidelines governing long-term care.
- Must be able to assist in planning, supervising, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of nursing team members.
- Must have the ability to recognize and assess signs and symptoms of residents' conditions and to provide intervention or referral as appropriate.
- Must have the ability to react and perform appropriately during emergency situations.
- Must have the ability to assist the physician in diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
- Must have a positive attitude toward the elderly and be able to maintain positive relationships and interactions with residents and team members.
- Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations.
